Physical Education (PE)
At Lingfield, we believe Physical Education should inspire every child to develop confidence, competence and a lifelong commitment to physical activity. We aim to equip children with the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to lead healthy, active lives.
In Early Years, children develop fundamental movement skills such as balance, coordination and agility through structured and exploratory activities.
In Key Stage 1, children refine these core skills and begin to apply them in simple games and team activities, developing control, accuracy and spatial awareness.
In Key Stage 2, learning builds progressively as children further develop technique, tactical understanding and teamwork across a range of sports and physical disciplines. Skills are carefully developed in small, progressive steps before being applied in competitive and cooperative contexts.
Alongside physical development, children learn about the importance of exercise, healthy lifestyles and mental wellbeing. By the end of Key Stage 2, children demonstrate secure physical skills, strategic understanding and a positive, informed attitude towards health and physical activity.
