Art
At Lingfield, we aim to inspire creativity and self-expression through a rich art curriculum. We want children to develop confidence in experimenting with materials and techniques while understanding how art reflects culture, identity and the legacy of artists throughout history.
In Early Years, children explore colour, texture, shape and form through practical experiences. They experiment with a range of materials and tools, developing fine motor control and early creative confidence.
In Key Stage 1, children build foundational skills in drawing, painting and sculpting. They learn to observe carefully, control tools with increasing precision and experiment with different media.
In Key Stage 2, children refine and combine techniques with greater control and independence. They study significant artists, craft makers and designers from different periods and cultures. Through a process of planning, developing, refining and evaluating, children learn how artistic choices can communicate meaning and how improvement is achieved through reflection.
By the end of Key Stage 2, children demonstrate secure technical skills, creative independence and an understanding of how artistic processes and legacies continue to influence art today.
