At Lingfield, we aim to foster a lifelong appreciation of music through creative and practical experiences. We want children to develop confidence, expression and an understanding of music’s cultural significance.

Children begin by exploring sound, rhythm and simple songs in Early Years.

In Key Stage 1, children develop singing skills, early notation and basic composition.

In Key Stage 2, children perform with increasing control, compose more confidently and deepen their understanding of musical structure and genre. Exposure to music from different times and cultures broadens their perspective and respect for diversity.

By the end of Key Stage 2, children demonstrate musical fluency and creative expression.
